Now I know alot of people think that the strategy genre is overrun with dead games that suck. BUT this is something different. It's in total 3D plus you get a choice between it being turn-based OR real time to accomadate everybody.

Your main objective in Shogun is to reunify Japan. . In the Sengoku Jidai period of the 16th century, Japan is under the rule of an emperor who commands the entire nation. But in reality, powerful warlords, control their own regions of a divided Japan, and each hopes to become the shogun, the ultimate warlord who would unite Japan.

You begin as the leader of one of seven rival clans of Japan. Each clan has its own strengths and weaknesses, and each starts out in a different area of the map. There isn't aren't alot of choices to confuse or distract you. I know some of you might not like how simple it is but don't worry because the strategy part is alot harder.

You govern pieces of land, pretty much like feudalism of you remember that from High School. You get to tax your people for funds and what not. The diplomacy part of the game is alot like Alpha Centauri. You pretty much keep the peace until your turn your back on your allies so you can take them over.

In reality, alot of the governing aspects are like Alpha Centauri. Governing the people finding technology and so on. Except your main goal is to become the Shogun. That's the fighting aspect with is in real time.

The only problem with the fighting is that some of the troops have the same color on as your enemy which makes them hard to distinguish from. Plus to attack you have to drag your men onto the enemy. Which is real annoying. The combat however is really realistic and looks really good.

If you love war and fighting and want to get your 16th century Japanese war on, then this is your game.
