Tony Hawk 3???

Activision has confirmed the rumors about Tony Hawk 3 for the Sony PlayStation 2. Company chairman Robert A. Kotick listed Tony Hawk 3 in his company's list of upcoming PS2 games including Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2, Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer, and Shawn Palmer's Pro Boarder Cross. Kotick went on to comment on development for other next-generation platforms, saying that Activision plans to fully support the Microsoft Xbox and the Nintendo "Dolphin" with game releases. It will also develop three titles for the launch of Nintendo's new handheld, the Game Boy Advance.

GT 2000 delayed

Yep Gran Turismo 2000 will no longer be a PS2 launch title. Sources say that this delay is a marketing move to ensure strong titles being released, even after the PS2's US launch. Yeah, I know that sucks.

56K modem for the PSX2

Sun Denshi announced today it will release a 56k "OnlineStation" modem for the Sony PlayStation 2. The modem will plug into the USB port of the PS2 and will not require its own power source. So now, for example, games like mahjong can be played on the PS2 using the OnlineStation. The set will include an Internet browser and e-mail software as well. Middleware software will also be distributed to third-party companies for the development of games that are compatible with the modem. OnlineStation is scheduled for release in January 2001 for a price of less than US $92.25 in Japan. Take note that this is not an officially licensed product of Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE). SCE is planning to release its own modem for the PS2 sometime in 2001.

EA Speaks

Well it seems that at the E3 Show EA showed it's whole hearted support for the Playstation 2. They have a few games scheduled for the PS2 launch. However, there full investment in the PS2 leaves little room for development for any other platform, namely the Dreamcast.

Sega says that they are sure that EA regrets their decision even though they say they aren't to concerned with them not developing any games for the Dreamcast. Heather Hawkins at Sega of America commented by saying that Sega is more concerned with making their own sports games.

Sorry ya'll. No Madden for the Dreamcast, No Live and No Fifa or Triple Play.
